Agali Beach

We started our trip by heading to Agali beach, which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.

The beach is located on the southern coast of the island and is surrounded by impressive cliffs. The crystal-clear water and the white pebbles make it a perfect place for swimming and snorkeling.

Agios Nikolaos Beach

After soaking up the sun at Agali beach, we decided to take a walk to Agios Nikolaos beach.

The walk itself was a highlight of our trip, as we were able to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Folegandros. The path takes you through olive groves, rocky terrain, and offers stunning views of the sea. Agios Nikolaos beach is located in a small bay, and it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the island.

Panagia Church

Next, we visited Panagia church, the most famous and largest church of Folegandros.

It is only accessible by foot and it takes around 20 minutes to reach it from Chora. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is a beautiful example of traditional Cycladic architecture. The best time to visit the church is during sunset.

We had the best roadtrip experience in Folegandros. The views while driving are stunning so make sure to have some tme to enjoy the views!

Chora Village

After visiting the church, we took a stroll through Chora village, which is a maze of narrow streets lined with traditional houses, small shops, and tavernas.

We stopped for a delicious Greek meal at one of the traditional family-owned tavernas.

We also visited the Venetian Castle of Folegandros, also known as Kastro. It was built around 1215 on the edge of a steep cliff around 200 meters above the sea to protect the town from pirates attacks!

Folegandros Nightlife

After a long day of exploring, we really enjoyed experiencing the island’s nightlife. Chora by night is a magical experience, as the village comes alive with lights, music, and people. We walked through the narrow streets, stopped for a drink at one of the tavernas, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the village.

Where to stay in Folegandros?

Chora is the old village of Folegandros and the main town where you can find lots of restaurants, hotels, and shops! It is an amazing place to stay; but you will need a car/scooter to go to the beach.

If you wish to stay next to the beach, the area near Agali beach is a great option. You fill find there many hotels as well as restaurants.

Finally, if you want to stay next to the port, Karavostasis is the best choice!

Overall, our trip to Folegandros was an unforgettable experience. The island’s natural beauty, friendly people, traditional village, and charming beaches make it a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a peaceful and authentic Greek island experience.
