How to get there from Paris?
You can take the “line R” train from Gare de Lyon in Paris: the trains normally operate from 6 am till midnight and there are on average one or two trains per hour. You have to stop at Moret-Veneux station. Once you get there, you will need to walk for 15-20 minutes to the village center.
If you have a “Navigo” pass for zones 1 to 5, then you can use it to go for free! The “Navigo” is the pass for public transport in Paris or in the Ile de France region in general. However, if you don’t have it, you should buy a ticket to Moret-sur-Loing.
Things to do in Moret-sur-Loing
Notre-Dame de l’Assomption Church
Once we arrived, we strolled along the Loing river and admired the picturesque houses, gardens and bridges that span the river. We then visited Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, a beautiful 13th century church home to a sculpture by the famous French artist, Auguste Rodin.
If you are a nature lover, visit the Parc des Peupliers; a park with a pond, a playground, and great paths for walking and enjoying the scenery.
Museums in Moret-sur-Loing
The most famous museum in Moret-sur-Loing is “Musée du Sucre d’orge”, a museum dedicated to the sweet barley sugar; France’s oldest sweet! It was created in Moret in 1638 under the reign of Louis XIII and since then the recipe has been kept secret!
All in all, Moret-sur-Loing is a charming destination and a beautiful place to spend a relaxing day or even a weekend away from the city!
